The West of Orkney Windfarm has the potential to power more than two million homes and deliver long-term economic benefits to communities across the north of Scotland.
The project is being developed by our team based in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Orkney, led by specialist offshore wind business Corio Generation, global multi-energy company TotalEnergies, and Scottish offshore wind developer RIDG. Together the partners bring a unique combination of financial, technical and project delivery capabilities.
We have submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report to Marine Scotland, Orkney Islands Council and The Highland Council detailing all of the studies and surveys we will undertake in the years ahead.
Our supply chain strategy has been designed specifically to bring together a unique combination of stakeholders to maximise the opportunities for the region. We have committed £105 million investment during the initial phase of the project to develop the supply chain that will be enhanced to at least £140 million by match funding from third parties. This investment will drive skills development and create opportunities for businesses and organisations in Caithness, Sutherland and Orkney, across Scotland and the rest of the UK.
